B.Sc. Nursing College , Dibrugarh is the first pioneering B.Sc. Nursing institution in the Upper Assam Zone located in the campus of Assam Medical College & Hospital , Dibrugarh , Assam . It is surrounded by lush green vistas of tea gardens. It is a professional Nursing institution recognized by Indian Nursing Council (INC) and affiliated to Srimanta Sankardeva University of Health Sciences (SSUHS), Assam. The institution is working within the framework and policy of Medical Education & research Department , Government of Assam.

It was established in the year 2010 . Officially the college started functioning from 4th August 2012 by the then founder Principal Prof. (Mrs.) Mosphea Khanam with intake of 60 numbers of students into the 1st year B.Sc Nursing course, which has been now enhanced to 75 numbers of students per year since 2021.

The institution also has its independent hostel building in the Assam Medical College & Hospital campus . The college has various laboratories equipped with modern art equipment for skilful training of the students. The college also has its own library equipped with up to date edition of books of different course related subjects, national and international professional journals and others.

Since 2012 till date total 705 numbers of students have gained entry into the course through Combined Entrance Examination conducted by the university. With its first pass out batch in the year 2016, A total of 7 batches have passed out from this institution till date. The passed out students of this institution are found to be absorbed globally in various Government, Non-Government Organisations and also in corporate health sectors .

They are serving the society by playing various roles such as Nursing Officers, Clinical Instructors, Lecturer, Health Educator, Community Health Officers and various others.

B.Sc. Nursing College, Dibrugarh has an expert team of faculty for rendering quality Nursing Education and skilful training to the students. The institution is presently running with Principal, 2 assistant professors, 18 numbers of lecturers, 5 office staffs and others.

The students of this esteemed college take active part in state and national level programs organised by SNA/ TNAI. The students under the supervision of faculties carries out Health Education Programs and various Disease Awareness Campaignings. As a part of curriculum the students of this institution carries out active research projects in the subjects of Nursing interest in order to promote advanced and value based learning and also to promote evidence based practice.

Aims of B. Sc . Nursing College, Dibrugarh are as follows –

  1. To produce competent nurses and midwives with critical thinking skills who are caring, motivated, assertive and well-disciplined responding to the changing needs of profession , healthcare delivery system and the society.
  2. To Prepare the students to assume responsibilities as professional in providing promotive, preventive, curative and rehabilitative healthcare services in any healthcare setting.
  3. To prepare Nurse’s and midwives who can make independent decisions in nursing situations within the scope of practice, protect the rights of individuals and groups and conduct research in the areas of nursing practice and apply evidence- based practice.
  4. To prepare the students to assume role of Practitioner, Teacher, Supervisor and Manager in all healthcare settings.

OBJECTIVES

On completion of the course, the Graduate Nurses will be able to -

  1. Utilize critical thinking to synthesize knowledge derived from physical, biological, behavioural sciences, and humanities, in the practice of professional nursing and midwifery.
  2. Practice professional nursing and midwifery competently and safely in diverse settings, utilizing caring, critical thinking and therapeutic nursing interventions with individuals, families, populations and communities at any developmental stage and with varied health experiences.
  3. Provide promotive, preventive and restorative health services in line with national health policies and programs.
  4. Integrate professional caring into practice decisions that encompass values, ethical, and moral and legal aspects of nursing.
  5. Respect the dignity, worth, and uniqueness of self and others.
  6. Apply concepts of leadership, autonomy and management to the practice of nursing and midwifery to enhance quality and safety in health care.
  7. Utilize the latest knowledge and skills related to information and technology to enhance patient outcomes.

  9. Utilize the requisite knowledge, skills and technologies to practice independently and collaboratively with all health professionals applying the principles of safety and quality improvement.

PHILOSOPHY

The College believes that:

  3. B.Sc. Nursing program will train the graduates who will be able to render quality nursing care which is scientifically sound and evidence based, in the health care practice at the Institutional level and Community Out Reach programmes.
  4. Training B.Sc. Nursing students for their all-round development as an individual, a citizen and a Nursing Professional, who will take up leadership positions and be capable of providing quality service in different health care setting and do innovative and pioneering work in the field of Nursing Practice and Education.
